- Distribution:
- It Occurs patchly in north and north-eastern areas of subregion.
- Habitat:
- It prefers open or light savanna woodlands with adjacent grasslands and surface water
- Size:
- Male: mass 50 to kg.
Female: mass 40 Kg.
Shoulder height :90 cm.
Average horn lenght 50 cm.
- Behaviour:
- It occur in herds of 5 or 6 specimens, but sometimes number up to 30 or more, especially near water or favourable grazings.
- Food:
- Grasses.
- Reproduction:
- Single calf born after gestation of 240 days.
- Longevity:
- 15 years.
