- Distribution:
- Southern Africa.
- Habitat:
- Desertic and semidesertic areas, savannas, dry river and dry uplands till 1.000 m.
- Size:
- Weight: Both Male and Female 650 to 900 gr.
Shoulder Height. Both Male and female 15 cm.
The tail can reach 25 cm.
- Behaviour:
- Diurnal. It does not go away from its burrow. During the day it rest under the sun or plays with its friens. It lives in groups which can reach 40 specimens.
Its enemies are: predatorys, jackals, African wild cats.
- Food:
- Insects, reptiles, little birds, eggs, snakes, but it likes also to eat fruits, berries and tubers.
- Reproduction:
- 2 to 5 offsprings after a gestation period of 2,5 months.
- Longevity:
- Unknown.
