- Distribution:
- Although seriously threatened by the presence of man it is possible to find it from sub-saharian Africa to the south of the continent.
- Habitat:
- Open savannas, almost desertic plans and mountains are the favourite wild dog's habitat.
- Size:
- Both Male and Female 15 to 30 kg.
Shoulder Height: Both Male and Female 70 to 75 cm.
- Behaviour:
- It hunts early in the morning, at twilight and sometimes during the full-moon periods. It spends the day resting on the dense vegetation. It lives in little flocks of 4 to 8 subjects.
Its enemies are: lions and hyaenas.

- Reproduction:
- From 2 to 15 offsprings. Normally 7 after two months and a half of gestation.
- Longevity:
- About 10 to 12 years.
