- Distribution:
- Namibia, Botswana, Zimbawe, Zambia, Mozambico and south Tanzania.
- Habitat:
- Open woodlands savanna semi-desertic areas.
- Size:
- Male: 220 to 320 Kg.
Female: 180 to 220 Kg.
Shoulder height: Male 130 to 150 cm. Female 120 to 140 cm.
The female has not the horns.
- Behaviour:
- Diurnal. It moves during the first hours of the morning to feed. Then it rests for the rest of the day. Lives in small groups of femals and calfs.
Its worst enemies are: lions, leopards and wild dogs.
- Food:
- Basicly leaves and shrubs.
- Reproduction:
- A single calf after 7 months of gestation.
- Longevity:
- From 7 to 15 years.
