Spotted Hyaena Crocuta crocuta

• Distribution:
  The whole sub-saharian Africa, rain forests excluded.

• Habitat:
  From the semi desertic arears to the umidities one. It's possible to find in the mountains till 4.500 m. of highness.

• Size:
  Male and female. 50 to 70 Kg.
  Shoulder height: 70 to 90 both male and female.

• Behaviour:
  Nocturnal. It usually sleeps during the day, but sometimes it's possible to see it hunting . It lives in familiar groups or couples. It worst enemy is the lion.

• Food:
  Carnivore. Normaly it feeds with carrions left by the lions, but it is a good hunter. It don't leave nothing of its prey, infact it eats the bones, the skin and the airs.

• Reproduction:
  1 to 3 offsprings after a gestation period of 3,5 months.

• Longevity:
  Over 35 years.
