Species: Boophis elenae
Family: Ranidae
Subfamily: Rhacophorinae |
- Distribution and habitat:
- Known for some rainforests of central-eastern Madagascar. It has been firstly discovered
at Ranomafana National Park; then also at Prinet-Analamazaotra
- Habits:
- Arboreal species
- Remarks :
- Described by Andreone in 1992. It is a cryptic species very similar to Boophis luteus,
from which it differs for some chromatic characters, such as coloration of the back
(marbled and not homogeneous as in B. luteus) and for colour of the eyes, which are
brownish and not red. Furthermore the call of these two species is much different
- Status:
- Apparently not directed endangered. As other Malagasy herps it is anyway threatened by
the forest fragmentation
