It is very widespread. Almost all the eastern rainforest, also in degraded habitats
Habits:
Terrestrial and semiaquatic Mantidactylus. It lives also in small swampy areas
Remarks
:
It is one of the commonest and most abundant Malagasy frog. It likes forests but can be found also in open spaces. Several related species are possibly known, such as M. ulcerosus and M. biporus.
Reproduction and larval development:
On the ground, eggs develop in ground and tadpoles are carried in the water by the rain.
